Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison will solicit ideas from Elk Grove High School students on how the county should spend $1 billion in federal funds during two town halls Thursday.

Morrison will be joined by Northwest Suburban High School District 214 Board Vice President Millie Palmer and district staff during the town halls in the school's theater. Some 100 students are expected to attend each town hall.

The county is set to receive $1 billion from the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, and officials are now in the process of developing a spending plan to support immediate recovery needs and long-term initiatives.
